Slovenia recorded 195 new coronavirus cases on Wednesday, one death

Ljubljana – A total of 3,030 PCR tests were conducted in Slovenia on Wednesday to confirm 195 coronavirus infections, a positivity rate of 6.4%, the government said on Thursday. 172 Covid-19 patients are in hospital today, including 49 in intensive care. One patient died.

The rolling seven-day average of new infections dropped by 11 to 201. The 14-day incidence per 100,000 residents is 154, according to data by the National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ).

In addition to the PCR tests, 27,449 rapid antigen tests were also conducted on Wednesday with all positive samples being double-checked with the PCR method. The share of positive PCR tests was 0.7 percentage point lower yesterday than the day before.

The number of patients in hospitals dropped by 16, but two more patients need intensive care.

So far, 737,354 people or almost 43% of adults have received one shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, while 506,064 people or just over 29% of the adult population has been fully immunised. The number of people who have recovered from Covid-19 is estimated at just under 248.460.

NIJZ estimates there are currently 3,247 active cases in the country.

Increasingly many community health centres are now offering vaccination without prior appointment to all residents of Slovenia. In Trbovlje, Domžale, Murska Sobota and the Notranjska region, this will be possible either on Friday or on Saturday.

Such mass vaccination has been so far provided in Celje, Krško, Ajdovščina and Bled.
