Two Greens MEPs on fact-finding mission in Slovenia next week

Brussels – Two members of the European Parliament from the Greens-European Free Alliance group will be in Slovenia next week for a fact-finding mission ahead of Slovenia’s presidency of the Council of the EU.

The Germans Daniel Freund and Sergey Lagodinsky will be in Slovenia from next Tuesday to Thursday, Lagodinsky’s office has confirmed for the STA, adding that they would be accompanied by another German Greens party member, Franziska Brantner.

According to the announcement, the purpose of the visit is a fact-finding mission as Slovenia is assuming the rotating six-month presidency of the Council in the second half of the year.

“We have confirmed meetings with representatives of the government as well as representatives of civil society and journalists,” the MEPs office adds.

The mission comes just after the the Media Freedom Rapid Response (MFRR) team wrapped up its mission to Slovenia to talk with various stakeholders in the country. Its report is expected to be compiled by July.
