Mura out of UEFA qualifying

Razgrad – Slovenian football champions Mura were knocked out of further qualifying for the UEFA Champions League after losing 1:3 to Bulgaria’s Ludogorets in the away leg of the 2nd round on Wednesday.

Ludogorets took an early lead through Pieros Sotiriu in the 4th minute and the result stayed the same until half time despite attempts by both teams, including two by Mura in the 25th and 29th minutes.

Mura put on a braver face on the second half and in the 64th midfielder Tomi Horvat scored the sole goal for the Slovenian champions after an assist by Žiga Kous.

Horvat made a new attempt from afar in the 79th but sent the ball above the goal.

The home team regained the lead in the 82nd through Elvis Manu after the ball was snatched away from Nino Kouter by Cauly Souza.

The latter opened his team’s path to the 3rd round wide by scoring the final goal in the 90th.

After a goalless draw in the first leg, Mura have been relegated to the Europa League where they will face Lithuania’s Zalgiris in the 3rd round.
