Financial Administration boosting cooperation with Bosnian tax authorities

Banja Luka – Ivan Simič, the acting director of Slovenia’s Financial Administration (FURS), signed a cooperation agreement with Goran Maričić, director of Tax Authority of Republika Srpska, in Banja Luka on Thursday. He also discussed closer cooperation with Miro Džakula, director of the Indirect Taxation Authority of Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Banja Luka, 12 August – Ivan Simič, the acting director of Slovenia’s Financial Administration (FURS), signed a cooperation agreement with Goran Maričić, director of Tax Authority of Republika Srpska, in Banja Luka on Thursday. He also discussed closer cooperation with Miro Džakula, director of the Indirect Taxation Authority of Bosnia-Herzegovina.

A press release from FURS noted the importance of efficient cooperation and exchange of information with the tax authorities in Bosnia-Herzegovina due to the country being of an increasing interest to Slovenian businesses. It also noted the importance of transfer of expertise and exchange of experience.

Discussions with the Tax Authority of Republika Srpska were concerned with key development projects, in particular the role of digitalisation, activities during the Covid-19 pandemic and the need to boost the population’s tax culture. The two sides pledged closer cooperation by signing an agreement.

Meanwhile, at the meeting with Džakula the latter noted the importance of bilateral cooperation in taxes and customs, exchange of knowledge and experience, cooperation on digitalisation challenges and activities in taxation of cryptocurrencies.

The Slovenian delegation presented FURS’s key development activities, debureaucratisation process, activities relating to Covid-19 and the customs area. The sides also called for more efficient operative cooperation in oversight and active exchange of data and information on concrete cases.
