Austrian FM Schallenberg visiting Ljubljana

Ljubljana – Austria’s Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg will be in Ljubljana on Friday for a working visit to discus bilateral cooperation between Austria and Slovenia with his Slovenian counterpart Anže Logar. The pair will also discuss the current EU and international issues, the Slovenian Foreign Ministry said as it announced the visit.

Logar and Schallenberg will talk about efforts to contain the coronavirus pandemic and planned measures to tackle Covid-19 at both national and EU levels, reads a press release from the ministry.

They will also focus on the situation of the Slovenian minority in Austria’s regions of Carinthia and Styria. Schallenberg will be joined on his visit by Governor of Styria Hermann Schützenhöfer, with whom Logar intends to discuss organisation of a session of the joint Slovenia-Styria committee they co-chair.

Logar will also present Slovenian EU presidency activities, particularly preparations for an informal meeting of EU foreign ministers, the so-called Gymnich meeting, that will be held in Slovenia in early September. Moreover, he will present the priorities regarding EU enlargement to the Western Balkans, the ministry added.
