PNL's Orban: Should Florin Citu is not PM anymore, USR PLUS might return to negotiations table

Should Florin Citu is not a Prime Minister anymore, it is possible that the USR PLUS (Save Romania Union - Party of Liberty, Unity and Solidarity alliance) returns to the negotiation table, because the only decent, reasonable coalition is the one made up of PNL (National Liberal Party), USR PLUS, UDMR (Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania) and the national minorities (orther than Hungarian), Liberal's head Ludovic Orban told on Monday night the private TV broadcaster Realitatea Plus. He said that the resignation by the USR PLUS ministers on Monday evening is a deepening of the crisis triggered by the Prime Minister against certain decisions made by the Premier who "blew up the coalition" and which show either lacking political experience or that he has been ill-advised. "For a coalition to work, its partners must show respect to each other. When governing, responsibility means to focus on the enforcement of the ruling programme," Orban stressed. In his opinion, the only decent and reasonable coalition that has the support of the Right electorate, is the one made up following the last fall's parliamentary election and that the solution of governing with support from the PSD (Social Democratic Party) or AUR (Alliance of the Union of Romanians) is unacceptable. "Without USR PLUS, PNL cannot shape a government capable to benefit from a parliamentary support, a parliamentary majority other than with PSD or AUR, both unacceptable solutions - unacceptable for the PNL electorate and especially for what we are, the PNL, we have always been in a constant fight with PSD (...). One cannot build a governing projection when in the first year of ruling, by making them prisoner to the toxic party one has attacked for 30 years and has fought with for 30 years. How is it possible to become the PSD prisoner, how is it possible to leave Romania again on the PSD hand?!" the PNL national leader added. Orban emphasised that should Florin Citu will no longer be Premier, it is possible that the USR PLUS return to the negotiation table and that the only way the Premier keeps their job will be with support from the Social-Democrats. "If anyone from the PNL wants a majority with the PSD, I demand them to say it now, publicly. If they don't want a majority with the PSD, then they must get back to the coalition we have built, because it is the only one possible. We forget about the vote of no confidence, solutions exist. (...) The USR statement is clear-cut: we don't want Citu Premier anymore. If Citu is not a Prime Minister anymore, it is possible that the USR PLUS return to the negotiation table. Mister Citu may stay Premier if the PSD is keeping him as Premier," Ludovic Orban concluded.AGERPRES(RO - author: Tina Dumitrescu, editor: Antonia Nita; EN - editor: Maria Voican)
