Case count tops 1,000 second day in a row

Ljubljana – Slovenia reported 1,016 new coronavirus infections for Wednesday in what is the second day in a row when the daily case count exceeded 1,000, show fresh official data. Hospitalisations increased to 269 as one person with Covid died, according to data tracker Covid-19 Sledilnik.

The 14-day incidence per 100,000 population was up by 24 to 394 and the seven-day average of new daily cases increased by 50 to 695, show data by the National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ). The share of positive PCR tests stood at 20.7%.

A total of 269 Covid-19 patients were in hospital this morning, up by 26 on the day before, including 63 in intensive care, according to the Covid tracker site covid-19.sledilnik.org.

The latest Covid-related death puts the death toll at 4,785, the Health Ministry data show.

The NIJZ estimates there are currently 8,361 active cases in the country.
