More than 1,300 new coronavirus cases, seven Covid-19 deaths

Ljubljana – A total of 1,324 new coronavirus infections were confirmed in Slovenia on Wednesday in 6,703 PCR tests, with the positivity rate down slightly. Total hospitalisations were down, but there were more people in intensive care this morning than on the day before. Seven patients with Covid-19 died.

On the weekly basis, the number of new infections was up by 23%, according to the latest data published by the National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ).

The 14-day incidence per 100,000 population was up by 32 to 562 and the seven-day average of new daily cases increased by 44 to 997. The share of positive PCR tests was down one percentage point to 19.7%.

The NIJZ estimates that there are now 11,889 active cases in the country, while the number of all cases recorded in Slovenia stands at 280,543.

According to the national Covid tracker site, hospitalisations are down by six to 341, but the number of patients in intensive care increased by six to 82. Seven people died of Covid-19, one more than on Wednesday.

The number of people in Slovenia fully vaccinated against Covid-19 has exceeded 950,000, standing at 950,190 today or slightly over 45% of the entire population, according to the NIJZ.
