Over 1,300 new coronavirus infections in Slovenia on Monday

Ljubljana – The number of positive coronavirus tests totalled 1,308 in Slovenia on Monday, according to the National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ), in what is a slight drop from a week ago. The number of patients in hospitals was up further as ICU cases exceeded 100 for the first time since May. Three new deaths were reported.

The 7-day average of new cases was down by 12 to 1,027 but the 14-day incidence per 100,000 was up by 20 to 644.

The NIJZ estimates there are now 13,645 active cases in the country, up from 13,211 the day before.

The test positivity rate was almost 23%.

According to fresh government data, the number of patients in hospital rose by 14 to 377 today, of whom 100 need intensive care, which is three more than yesterday. Three patients died, the government said on Twitter.

The youngest patient hospitalised is 21, and the youngest in intensive in a 27-year-old.

So far 1,093,723 people or 52% of the population have received the first dose of a Covid vaccine. A total of 971,392 people or 46% have been fully inoculated.

Among those over 18, 61% have received the first shot and 55% have been fully immunised. The shares for those over 50 are 73% and 67%, respectively.

Almost 6,750 people were vaccinated on Monday.
