Weekly increase in new Covid cases

Ljubljana – A total of 970 new coronavirus infections were recorded in Slovenia on Thursday in what is an increase week-on-week, show fresh official data. Four Covid-19 patients died.

The number of patients in hospital dropped by one to 419 this morning, including 112 in intensive care, three more than yesterday, government data show.

The 14-day incidence per 100,000 decreased by eight to 596 as the rolling seven-day average of new daily cases increased by five to 869, according to the National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ).

The test positivity rate stood at 18.2%, up from 17.2% a week ago.

Slovenia has so far reported 294,335 coronavirus cases, of which 12,628 are estimated active at the moment.

A total of 1,126,777 or 53% of the population have received the first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine. The number of those who have been fully immunised has meanwhile topped one million, standing at 1,003,714 (48%), NIJZ data show.
