Two women stabbed in separate incidents

Ljubljana – Two women were stabbed on Monday morning in separate incidents involving male perpetrators, both of whom have been apprehended. Both wounded women have been hospitalised.

In Postojna, a man stabbed a 22-year-old woman several times, the Koper Police Department said, adding that the woman had been taken to hospital, while the suspect had been apprehended.

A 29-year-old meanwhile inflicted multiple stab wounds in the neck to a 48-year-old woman in the village of Lehen in the Pohorje mountain range west of Maribor, says the website of the newspaper Večer.

The man fled the scene but was then apprehended some five kilometres south-east of the village after a search involving a police helicopter, the Maribor Police Department said.

According to unofficial information obtained by Večer, the attacked woman is the mother of the attacker’s partner. Although having been stabbed in the neck, she managed to call the police and ambulance herself. She was taken to the UKC Maribor hospital.

Večer said, citing unofficial information, that the suspect has had mental issues while rejecting medication for the illness.
