Week-on-week coronavirus case count more than doubles to 1,500

Ljubljana – Almost 1,500 new coronavirus cases were confirmed in Slovenia on Saturday in what is an increase of 138% week-on-week, while the positivity rate increased on a daily basis by more than three percentage points to 33.5%, the National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ) reported.

The seven-day average of new cases has increased by 123 to 1,673 and the 14-day incidence per 100,000 residents has climbed to 837, up by 48, NIJZ data show.

NIJZ estimates that there are now 18,447 active cases, up more than a thousand on the day before, and up from 12,258 a week ago.

The government reported that 475 people were in hospital for Covid-19 on Saturday, 20 more than on Friday. The number of patients who require intensive care was up by six to 126. Five Covid-19 patients died yesterday.

The youngest hospitalised patient is 31 years old, and the youngest patient in intensive care is 32 years old.
