Pahor urges vaccination, compliance with preventive measures

Ljubljana – President Borut Pahor has turned to Slovenian citizens as the epidemiological situation is deteriorating, urging them to get vaccinated and comply with coronavirus restrictions, including the convalescent-vaccinated-tested (PCT) rule.

“We all have the right to different opinions, but nobody should put health and lives of others at stake,” Pahor said in a written message on Tuesday in reference to whose who oppose vaccination and other measures to prevent the spread of the virus.

He is aware that his appeal might be ignored, yet he said he sincerely felt the need to alert everyone to the fact that we need one another very much at these hard times.

“Now is such a time. Let’s show to ourselves and others what is the most human and the most humane in us,” he said.

He pointed to the healthcare system becoming increasingly overwhelmed as the number of Covid hospitalisations is rising.

“I don’t know if we can imagine the responsibility and stress of health workers who might soon find themselves in a position to decide whom to provide medical care and whom not,” the president also said.
