SDS deputy Ljubo Žnidar resigns

Ljubljana – Ljubo Žnidar, an MP for the coalition Democrats (SDS), has resigned. The party said he stepped down for personal reasons and decided to continue his professional career in the corporate sector.

SDS deputy group leader Danijel Krivec said Žnidar no longer saw himself in this role and did not wish to contest an election again.

Žnidar started his term in April last year, when he was sworn in as replacement MP for Jelka Godec, who was appointed a state secretary at the prime minister’s office.

He will be succeeded by Karmen Kozmus Ferjan, a public relations officer at the Finance Ministry and the wife of another SDS deputy, Jure Ferjan.

Žnidar was a vice-chair of the parliamentary Credentials and Privileges Commission and members of the committees for infrastructure, finance and foreign policy.

His term ends when the National Assembly is formally acquainted with his decision.
