Documentary made on Janja Garnbret’s climb to Olympic gold

Ljubljana – After winning gold at the Tokyo Summer Olympics, Slovenia’s sports climbing superstar Janja Garnbret will be paid tribute with a documentary film that follows her training for the competition along with three other climbers.

The Wall – Climb for Gold, which is expected to be released this winter, follows Garnbret, Shauna Coxsey of the UK, Brooke Raboutou of the US and Miho Nonaka of Japan in a two-year span as they prepare for the Olympics.

The documentary shows their gruelling practice sessions as part of the qualifiers for an Olympic berth, a busy competition season and the climax – the Olympics, where Garnbret made history as the winner of the first gold medal in sport climbing.

As the young women cope with mental and physical internal struggles on their way to Tokyo, the film provides an inspiring insight into what it means to be an Olympian, and ultimately, what it means to be human.

A pre-premiere of the film for the Slovenian audience will be held this evening in the Cukrarna venue in Ljubljana.
