Bulgarian PM after He was Questioned by the Prosecution: We are Not Afraid of Anyone

After nearly two hours at the Supreme Cassation Prosecutor's Office, Prime Minister Kiril Petkov said he had left a list of names and expected the prosecution's focus to be on these cases of corruption and other crimes. However, he refused to give the media the names from this list.

Bulgarian PM will be Summoned for Questioning at the Prosecutor's Office

Kiril Petkov and his chief of staff Lena Borislavova received summonses to appear today at the Supreme Cassation Prosecutor's Office to provide details about persons who are "at the root of economic and criminal crime in the country and against whom no necessary actions have been taken to seek criminal punishment or responsibility from the prosecution." Petkov announced the names to Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev at their meeting late last week.

Upon entering the prosecutor's office, the prime minister noted that the names given were known from media publications and journalistic investigations, but they were not mentioned by the prosecutor's office as under investigation. Asked whether he accepted the summons to the prosecutor's office as institutional pressure, as defined this morning by President Rumen Radev, Petkov said he did not accept it as pressure, but as PR for the prosecutor's office. "I am sorry that the prosecutor's office needs the executive branch to carry additional information in this way. I am sure that the prosecutor's office has it and this is part of its obligations," the prime minister added.
