Ljubljana City Library hosting Austrian Culture Week

Ljubljana – The Ljubljana City Library will host this week a series of lectures and other events presenting the rich cultural and natural heritage of Austria and its impact and integration into the common European space as part of the Austrian Culture Week.

The events that “take the audience into the world of art and history of Austria” will open on Monday evening at the Oton Župančič Library by Austrian Ambassador Elisabeth Ellison-Kramer and Ljubljana City Library director Teja Zorko.

In a conversation with journalist and TV host Ksenija Horvat, they will discuss the views on Austrian culture, history, mentality and the role and position of Austria in the contemporary European space.

Taking place until until Friday also in the Prežihov Voranc and Šiška libraries, the Austrian Culture Week will feature a number of lectures.

These will discuss the fall of the Habsburg Monarchy, the greatest Austrian philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein, the founder of logotherapy Viktor Frankl, the Vienna Secession, lesser known literary and social aspects of Vienna, painter Oskar Kokoschka and recent Austrian literature in Slovenian translation.

The series entitled The World Among Us will be hosted in cooperation with the Austrian Embassy, the Austrian Cultural Forum Ljubljana, the department of German studies at the Ljubljana Faculty of Arts, the Faculty of Architecture and the City Museum of Ljubljana.
