Biden has banned the import of Russian oil and trade with the Russian Federation

US President Joe Biden has signed two bills banning oil imports and halting trade with Russia. The purpose of the documents is to impose sanctions on Russia over the war in Ukraine.

The first document - "Law on the cessation of imports of Russian oil" stops the import of all energy products from the Russian Federation. The second suspends trade relations with the federation and Belarus, an ally of Russia.

As early as March, Biden explained that the oil ban would hit "the main artery of the Russian economy" and that the suspension of trade would help put Russia in global isolation.

"As Putin continues his relentless attack, the United States and our allies and partners continue to work to increase economic pressure on Putin and further isolate Russia on the world stage," he said.
