Cedevita Olimpija makes it to q-finals of EuroCup Basketball

Ljubljana – Cedevita Olimpija made it to the quarter-finals of the current EuroCup Basketball season by defeating Türk Telekom of Turkey 93:80 in Ljubljana’s Stožice Arena on Tuesday in what is the greatest achievement for the club in recent years.

In the group play in Group B of Euroleague Basketball’s secondary level professional club basketball competition, the club from Ljubljana finished third, scoring eleven wins and seven losses, trailing Spain’s Gran Canaria and Valencia Basket.

This earned the club from Ljubljana the sixth-ranked team from Group A, Türk Telekom, which was no match for Cedevita Olimpija in front of 8,000 spectators in Stožice Arena, as the home team led practically wire-to-wire to score the decisive win.

The home team was led by swingman Jaka Blažič with 20 points, with centre Alen Omić adding 15 points and pulling down 16 rebounds.

The club that was formed with the merger of Cedevita from Zagreb and Petrol Olimpija from Ljubljana in June 2019 will play the winner of the match between Partizan of Serbia and Frutti Extra Bursaspor of Turkey on 26 or 27 April.
