President Pahor receives refugees from Ukraine

Ljubljana – President Borut Pahor received in Presidential Palace on Friday people from Ukraine who took refuge from the war in their country in Slovenia. Ukrainian Ambassador Mykhailo Brodovych attended the reception as well, the president’s office said.

Brodovych thanked Slovenia for the hospitality and for the friendly relations with Ukraine, saying that “Slovenia is not a small country, Slovenia has a big heart.”

The Ukrainian guests were also addressed by Pahor, who said that “your homeland was attacked by the Russian aggressor. Without any cause and reason. Brave Ukrainian soldiers and innocent victims are falling in this merciless war.”

The president observed a minute of silence in their honour and asked Ambassador Brodovych to convey to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky “expressions of admiration for his rebellion and courage of the Ukrainian state and people.”

Pahor also wished the people of Ukraine that peace would come soon and that the country gets reconstructed as soon as possible.
