Elections have started in Great Britain

It remains to be seen whether they will pay the price for the so-called saga regarding the party in Downing Street, for which Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Chancellor Rishi Sunak were punished for violating the law on the coronavirus.
During his visit to Southampton Airport on the last day before the opening of the polls, Johnson pointed out that he was "absolutely convinced" that he had a "real agenda for the country". Labor leader Keir Starmer used his pre-election rally to highlight what he called the "constant drop of immorality and scandalous events" in the Johnson administration.

Tories affected by a series of controversies

Apart from Partygate, the Tories have been hit by a series of controversies. Former Wakefield MP Imran Nasir Ahmad Khan has been found guilty of sexually abusing teenagers, and veteran Neil Parish has resigned after admitting to watching pornography in the lower house of parliament.
In England, more than 4.000 councilors in 146 councils will run in elections in major cities including Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham and all 32 districts of London. All 32 councils in Scotland and all 22 in Wales will also hold elections, and polls will close at 10 p.m.
Meanwhile, high tensions are present in Northern Ireland, where voters are being urged to elect 90 members of the Legislative Assembly in 18 constituencies. Opinion polls suggest Sinn Fin is likely to win, and polls suggest support for the Alliance is growing.
