Bad bank replaces two executive directors

Ljubljana – The non-executive directors of the Bank Assets Management Company (BAMC) dismissed Andrej Lazar and Kristina Šteblaj from their positions as BAMC executive directors on Monday and appointed Mitja Križaj and Žiga Pfeifer as acting executive directors to replace them. Meanwhile, Matej Pirc remains an executive director.

The purpose of the executive management reshuffle is to efficiently implement the activities for the abolition of the bad bank by the end of the year and for the transfer of the remaining activities and assets to Slovenian Sovereign Holding as its legal successor, the BAMC said after today’s meeting of the board of directors.

The non-executive directors believe that the newly-appointed acting executive directors will contribute significantly to the tasks of wounding down the BAMC. They will take up their posts on 1 July.

Križaj has more than 20 years of management experience in banking and finance, real estate portfolio and investment management, and managing companies involved in the management of non-strategic and non-performing investments of banks and other financial organisations, the BAMC said.

Between 2017 and 2020 he already served as non-executive director in the bad bank, but he was dismissed by the previous government.

Pfeifer has 14 years of experience in the real estate and banking sectors and is skilled in the development and management of major projects. He joined the BAMC in 2018 as head of real estate portfolio management in the residential real estate segment.

The replacements of BAMC executive directors are not unexpected, as they follow recent appointments among non-executive directors.

At its maiden session at the beginning of June, the Robert Golob government took note of the resignation of Franci Matoz as non-executive director at the bad bank, and dismissed Gregor Planteu, Aleksander Lozej and Alenka Urnaut Ropoša from their posts of non-executive directors.

It appointed Žiga Debeljak, Miha Resman, Diana Milivojević and Rok Marolt in their stead. A few days later, Debeljak became the new chairman of the BAMC board.
