Minister, two EU commissioners back EU measures for Ukrainian students

Ljubljana – Together with two European commissioners, Margaritis Schinas and Mariya Gabriel, Education Minister Igor Papič has expressed support for EU measures dedicated to helping Ukrainians students, the Education Ministry said on Thursday.

The three officials showed their support in a letter noting that joint efforts by the European Commission and EU member states have the same goal: “To ensure that all students, whether in the EU or in Ukraine, continue their education, and to help educators across the EU to provide education in the best possible conditions.”

At the end of this school year, there is certainty that education authorities are ready for autumn and that schools will remain “a safe haven for all students, whether they are refugees or EU citizens”, the joint letter reads.

“Every war is a war against children,” Papič, Margaritis Schinas, EU commissioner for promoting European way of life, and Mariya Gabriel, EU commissioner for innovation, research, culture, education and youth, wrote in the letter, vowing that Ukraine can count on EU aid.
