First loss for Slovenia at EuroBasket

Cologne – Slovenia suffered a defeat at the hands of Bosnia and Herzegovina the EuroBasket on Sunday, going down 97:93 (26:32, 49:52, 72:73) to end an 11-game winning streak at European championships.

Bosnia and Herzegovina started off with an eight-point run, but Slovenia quickly caught up to finish the first quarter six point ahead,

The teams were neck-and-neck for most of the game, alternately zipping ahead only for the other team to catch up again, but in the final minute Bosnia-Herzegovina cemented the win after Luka Dončić fouled and John Robertson converted both free throws.

Vlatko Čančar was the top scorer for Slovenia with 22 points and Goran Dragić added 20. On the Bosnian side, John Robertson scored 23 and Džanan Musa 22.

Slovenia have a day off tomorrow before they head into the last two games of the preliminary round, against Germany on Tuesday and Olympic silver medallists France on Wednesday.
