Weekend Covid figures down week-on-week

Ljubljana – A total of 2,175 new coronavirus cases were recorded in Slovenia from Friday to Sunday or 286 cases fewer than in the same period a week ago, the latest data by the Health Ministry show. One Covid-19 patient died in the three-day period.

The ministry’s data shows 70 patients were in hospital for Covid-19 on Sunday, and 11 were in intensive care. In total, 202 hospital patients had Covid, including 16 in intensive care.

One infected patient died on Friday, the ministry said on Twitter.

According to National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ) data, the 14-day case notification rate per 100,000 people has fallen by tree in the last day to 858.

The institute estimates there are currently 18,126 active cases in the country, down by 52 compared to the day before and by 697 compared to the same day a week ago.

Last week, around 9,300 new infections were confirmed in Slovenia, which is almost 600 fewer than a week earlier. Hospitalisations were down slightly, while the number of Covid patients requiring intensive care remained similar.
