Slovenia up two spots in UN e-government survey
Ljubljana – Slovenia ranks 21st among 193 countries in the latest United Nations e-government survey 2022. The country gained two spots compared to 2020, showing progress in all components of the survey, the Public Administration Ministry said in a press release on Monday.
The UN’s biannual assessment of the digital government landscape across all 193 member states that the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs first published in 2001, includes data analysis in global and regional contexts, a study of local e-government development based on the UN Local Online Service Index (LOSI), consideration of inclusion in the hybrid digital society, and the trends and developments related to the future of digital government.
The main indicator is the e-government development index, where Slovenia ranks 21st. The index is calculated based on the index of online services, where Slovenia is in 22nd place, the human capital index, where it ranks 12th, and the telecommunication infrastructure index, which puts Slovenia in 40th place, the ministry said.
At global level, the results show significant progress in the development of telecoms infrastructure and human resources, and improvements in services, while there is still a notable gap between developed and developing countries, reflecting a persisting global digital divide.
