No. of tourists in Jan-Sept up 64%

Slovenia recorded 4.9 million tourist arrivals in the January-September period, a rise of 64.2% compared with the same period last year, the figures the Statistics Office released on Tuesday show.

Domestic tourists accounted for almost 1.6 million arrivals, with guests from Germany, Italy, Austria and Netherlands accounting for the bulk of foreign arrivals.

The tourists spent over 13.2 million nights at Slovenia’s accommodation facilities in the first nine months of the year, an increase of almost 54%.

Domestic tourists accounted for almost 4.6 million nights, an annual rise of 35%, with 8.6 million coming from tourists from abroad, up 65%.

In September alone, arrivals reached 590,000, a drop of almost 8% over September 2021, with tourism establishments reporting a combined 1.5 million stays, down over 9%.

Foreign arrivals reached 455,000, accounting for almost 1.1 million nights, which is around 40% more than in September 2021 but almost the same as in the pre-Covid 2019.
