Türkiye is now much stronger with all capabilities: Erdoğan

"Today, the Republic of Türkiye is much stronger and much more advanced than it was a quarter century, half a century, a century ago, with all its political, economic and military capabilities," President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Erdoğan said on Aug. 30. 

Erdoğan delivered a speech at the Victory Day Concert at the Presidential Complex.

Highlighting August as an exceptional "month of victories", President Erdoğan said: "We have come to the end of this special month, which has written its name in golden letters in our history with many achievements from Manzikert to Belgrade, from Mohács to Cyprus. We are closing August with the anniversary of a great victory that paved the way for the establishment of our Republic, our last state in Anatolia. On August 26, 1922, our army launched the Great Offensive with the 'attack' order given by Ghazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. Our heroic army, which smashed the enemy lines one by one, destroyed a significant part of the Greek occupation forces and opened the way to İzmir with the Battle of the Commander-in-Chief on August 30. Fifteen days after the start of the Great Offensive, Turkish flags were flying in the skies of Izmir, which had been ravaged by the fleeing enemy. Thus, we won the war we fought on the field against the enemy, who had defiled the lands of Anatolia, our eternal homeland, with their treacherous ambitions and dirty boots for nearly 3.5 years. With the Great Offensive, like all our victories, we showed once again to our friends and foes that there was no sacrifice we could not make and no difficulty we could not overcome for our independence and future."
