Red Star Belgrade first to reach final of basketball ABA League

BELGRADE - Serbian basketball champions Red Star Belgrade have become the first team to qualify for the final of the regional ABA League after a 2-0 win over Serbian outfit Mega in the semi-final series.

In the second game of the series, Red Star won 94-69 at Belgrade's Ranko Zeravica Sports Hall on Tuesday evening to advance to their ninth consecutive final in the competition.

Rokas Giedraitis led Red Star with 20 points and was followed by Freddie Gillespie with 16, Yago dos Santos with 13 and Luka Mitrovic with 10 points.

Ilija Milijasevic and Bogoljub Markovic each scored 13 points for Mega and Nikola Djurisic added 12.

The other semi-final series between Partizan Belgrade and Montenegro's Buducnost Podgorica is currently tied at 1-1, with the decisive third game slated for Friday.
