Pigi Devetzi on her divorce: Essentially, I was the family’s bank; I paid for everything

In an interview with OK! magazine, the former athlete initially mentioned: “My relationship lasted a total of seven years, and the marriage three. I couldn’t take it any longer.”

She then explained that she, unlike her father, took a long time to see the negatives of that marriage.

“It’s a long story. I got this strength from my father, who saw the flaws in that marriage, but I didn’t. At some point, he sent me a letter, which I have kept, as my father is no longer alive. That’s when I realized how right he was.

Even though I had decided to leave that marriage, my father’s letter motivated me to make the decision faster,” she explained.

She also added: “In the last period before the divorce, we had many conflicts with my ex. Because essentially, I was the family’s bank; I paid for everything. My father found a smart way, and through the letter, he opened my eyes to see clearly how things were.”

Finally, she mentioned that the end of her marriage did not affect how she views men or make her more cautious.

“I have to say that I am very much into relationships. I don’t like fleeting situations. And I am always faithful, but I want honesty and truth from the other person,” she said in closing.
