Dacic: 13 bodies retrieved from ruins in Novi Sad, death toll expected to be final

NOVI SAD - Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dacic said on Friday evening the body of a thirteenth victim of a roof overhang collapse at the Novi Sad railway station had been retrieved from the ruins and that the death toll was expected to be final.

"When the number of victims was eight, we knew that there were five more people underneath the ruins for whom we were unable to establish whether they were dead or alive," Dacic told reporters.

"They died on the spot," Dacic said. He gave credit to all who had taken part in the rescue operation.

Earlier, Dacic told Pink TV three people had been hospitalised after being rescued from underneath the ruins.
