Theodorikakos: Effort to cut prices must be universal

Everyone must continue the effort to reduce prices, with a reduction of the gross profit margin for the benefit of consumers, Development Minister Takis Theodorikakos said on Monday during a meeting with the board of the supermarkets' union.

The minister met with the representatives of the supermarket association, following their request for an update on surveys done by the Research Institute of Retail Consumer Goods (IELKA), the comparison of product prices with other European countries, measurements of the sector's performance, the costing of products from farm to fork, and the progress of the price reduction initiative and price control measures.

Theodorikakos pointed out to the members of the delegation that they must continue the initiative for serious price reductions and extend it to 600 product codes and more, expanding the measure over time and supporting...
