Thessaloniki club closed for serving alcohol to underage patrons

Municipal police shut down a Thessaloniki club on the city's coastal road Thursday morning after three underage patrons were hospitalized from consuming alcohol and falling ill.

The three patrons, two boys aged 15 and 16, and a girl aged 14, were transported to hospital with symptoms of alcohol poisoning. 

The municipal police officers posted an official notice on the club's entrance stating that the club's operations are suspended until further notice.

In Greece, it is prohibited to sell alcohol to individuals under 18 years old.

The issue has recently reached alarming proportions. Just over a week ago, a 20-year-old manager of an Athens nightclub was arrested after eight teenagers, all underage, were hospitalized for alcohol poisoning.
