Channels of communication

There has been no tangible progress in bridging our differences with Turkey, nor does achieving it look easy. However, the establishment of channels of communication that appear to be assuming the form of some kind of permanent mechanism for ensuring calm waters between the two sides is a kind of progress. 

Functional bilateral relations are even more essential now that the world seems to be on the brink of major geopolitical upheavals. It is good for Athens and Ankara to be able to communicate with each other directly, without intermediaries. Even if it's just to talk, and not to negotiate.
