New alert issued for severe storms in central Macedonia, Thessaly

A 112 emergency alert was sent on Saturday afternoon by Greece's Civil Protection, warning citizens of very heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and gale-force winds in Central Macedonia and Thessaly.

It follows a similar alert sent earlier in the day to the residents o the Cycladic island of Tinos.

Storm Bora, caused by a low-pressure system over the Ionian Sea moving slowly eastward, is bringing severe weather conditions, including heavy rain, thunderstorms, and gale-force winds, and is expected to last until Sunday afternoon.

Residents have been advised to avoid travel and follow the authorities' instructions.
