Erdoğan, UN chief discuss regional issues on phone
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Dec. 5 held a phone call with U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres during the National Security Council (MGK) meeting.
The two discussed both regional and global issues, according to a statement from Türkiye's Directorate of Communications.
Erdoğan underlined Türkiye's desire for an end to further instability and civilian casualties in Syria during the phone call.
"The Syrian regime must commit urgently with its people in favour of a global political solution," Erdoğan noted in the call, highlighting that Türkiye will maintain efforts to ease tension, protect civilians and clear the path for the political process.
