Gov’t plans ‘missile protection wall’ in the Aegean
The government plans to create a missile protection "wall" on the Aegean islands within the framework of its Agenda 2030 reforms for the military, Defense Minister Nikos Dendias has said.
In a address to the Hellenic Naval Academy on the occasion of the feast day of the navy's patron, Saint Nicholas, Dendias said the wall would see islands being transformed into "units of power" capable of preventing any attempt to change the regime in the Aegean as enshrined in international treaties and laws.
The 2030 Agenda, he added, was not just a "weapons systems purchasing program," but "a completely different concept that looks to the future, recognizing the enormous changes that have already occurred."
