Greece establishes public sector data protection committee

Greece has launched a Data Protection Committee to streamline personal data management and enhance security across central government ministries.

The committee, comprising data protection officers from nine ministries, including Digital Governance, Justice, Health and Migration, is chaired by the Digital Governance Ministry's officer, leveraging its role as the hub for government cloud infrastructure.

A joint initiative by Digital Governance Minister Dimitris Papastergiou and Justice Minister Giorgos Floridis, the committee aims to ensure consistent practices, coordinate responses to data issues and strengthen privacy protections for citizens.
