Man charged in wife’s hammer killing

A 39-year-old man has been charged with intentional homicide and weapon offenses after allegedly killing his wife with a hammer in their home in the downtown neighborhood of Ambelokipi.

Authorities say the man confessed, claiming he acted in a jealous rage after accusing his wife of infidelity. He struck her with a hammer, strangled her and hid her body in their bedroom, before taking their children to school. He then moved the body to the attic, where police later recovered it along with the weapon.

The man contacted police six days after the killing. He is set to appear before an investigative judge Tuesday.
