Protesters hang rebel flag at Syrian embassy in Athens

Protesters broke into the Syrian Embassy in the northern Athens suburb of Psychiko early Sunday, hung the Syrian opposition flag on the building and removed a photo of President Bashar al-Assad, Greek authorities said.

The group included three to four individuals, two of whom left voluntarily before police intervened. Officers arrested the remaining protesters inside the building.

The protest coincides with Syrian rebels declaring the end of Assad's regime after seizing Damascus on Sunday. The collapse ends a 50-year family dynasty following 13 years of civil war. Assad reportedly fled the capital, with conflicting reports about his fate.
