Economist: Greece among top 5 performers in 2024

Greece, Spain, and Italy have been ranked among the world's top five economic performers in 2024, marking the Mediterranean region's third consecutive year of rising prominence, according to The Economist. 

The three Mediterranean countries, which have long underperformed their European neighbours to the north, "deserve a fiesta," the Economist report noted. 

Greece was ranked equal-third on the Economist list with Denmark. GDP growth in Greece reached 3.7% from the last quarter of 2023 to the third quarter of 2024, the country's share prices rose by an average of 10.6% compared to a year earlier, while the country's inflation rate was 3.5%. 

These factors are among five criteria used by The Economist to rank countries based on economic performance.
