Greek National Football Team: Greece vs. Scotland Playoff Set for Karaiskakis Stadium
The playoff match of the Nations League between Greece and Scotland will be held at Karaiskakis Stadium on March 20, 2025.
This decision was made by the Executive Committee of the Hellenic Football Federation (EPO), which also approved a €1.5 million financial contribution from AEK owner Marios Iliopoulos to support amateur football.
The Official EPO Announcement
“During today’s meeting, the Executive Committee of EPO made the following decisions, among others:
Following a recommendation from the National Teams Committee, the ‘G. Karaiskakis’ stadium was designated as the venue for the Greece-Scotland playoff match in the UEFA Nations League. The match is scheduled for Thursday, March 20, at 21:45. It is worth noting that this match will be the first of two against Scotland (the second leg on March 23) for promotion to League A of the tournament.
This game against Scotland will be the 73rd match in the history of the National Team at ‘G. Karaiskakis’ stadium.
The Amateur Football Committee’s proposal was unanimously approved, provisionally accepting an offer from AEK and Mr. Marios Iliopoulos for amateur football. Before formal acceptance of the proposal, a memorandum of cooperation will be drafted, following a meeting and financial and legal review. All conditions will also be examined by the Control, Governance, and Compliance Committee.
In alignment with FIFA-UEFA standards, Federation representatives will now attend the elections of EPO’s Member Associations. Responsibility for forming these EPO delegations in the EPS elections was delegated to the Amateur Football Committee. Additionally, the possibility of Federation representatives attending the regular General Assemblies of EPS was discussed.”
