Turkish national wanted by Interpol arrested in Thessaloniki
A 46-year-old Turkish national, wanted by Turkish authorities for alleged involvement in a criminal organization and drug trafficking, has been arrested in Thessaloniki.
The man, who is said to have been living in Greece for some time, holds a temporary ID card as an asylum seeker.
He was arrested yesterday on Monastiriou Street after authorities discovered an active Interpol Red Notice against him. Today, he appeared before the Thessaloniki Court of Appeals prosecutor, where it was decided he would be released under restrictive conditions while the Appeals Council reviews Turkey's extradition request.
Reportedly, the conditions require him to check in at a local police station twice a month and prohibit him from leaving the country.
