Bulgaria consolidated budget showed a surplus of BGN 2.35 B as of end-April, equivalent to 2.6% of the projected 2016 GDP.

This compared with consolidated budget surplus of BGN 1.07 B, equivalent to 1.2% of GDP at the end of April  2015.

Brexit camp leads in new Guardian phone poll

According to a phone poll conducted by ICM for British newspaper ‘Guardian’, 45% of those asked said they favoured the UK exiting the European Union compared to 42% who said they preferred the country remained in the EU.

Bulgaria's Pironkova Proceeds to Roland Garros Quarter-Finals

Tsvetana Pironkova on Tuesday became the first Bulgarian female tennis player to reach the quarter-finals at Roland Garros French Open since Sesil Karantancheva in 2005.

Second-seeded Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland lost  2-6, 6-3, 6-3 to Pironkova ranked 100 spots below her.

When the match was originally suspended on Sunday evening due to rain, Radwanska was leading 6-2, 3-0. 

Gov't does U-turn after outcry over offshore law

After days of vehement criticism for slipping a provision into a recent multi-bill of reforms that removed a blanket ban on MPs and public officials from being involved in offshore firms, the government on Tuesday backed down and is to table a legislative amendment in Parliament revoking the provision on Wednesday.

US State Dept: Warning of terrotist attacks in Euro 2016 football tournament

Then US State Department warned its citizens traveling to Europe in summer of possible terrorist attacks across the continent during the 2016 France Euro Football Championship staring in June. The issued travel advice informs US citizens that large events, tourist sites, restaurants, shopping centers and public transport could be targets.
