Montenegro Mulls Sending More Police to Kosovo Border

Montenegrin police told BIRN that the security situation is stable and denied it is has sent additional forces to its border with Kosovo ahead of a ratification vote in Pristina on Thursday on the controversial border demarcation agreement.

Pironkova Gets Off to a Good Start at US Open

Bulgaria's best-ranking female tennis player Tsvetana Pironkova has begun her participation at the US Open.

She has defeated WTA's No 166, Virginie Razzano of France 6:1, 6:2, in a 75-minute match.

Pironkova currently ranks 71st.

In the next round, she will face either Johanna Konta (UK) or Bethanie Mattek-Sands (US).

Serbia's Jeremic Third in Poll for UN Top Job

Jeremic came joint third in the vote by UN Security Council members on Monday alongside UNESCO chief Irina Bokova from Bulgaria.

The former top Serbian diplomat received seven positive votes, five negative (one more than in the second round) and three 'no opinion' votes.
