The total amount of water collected in major Turkish dams decreased by 30 percent in the first five months of 2017 compared to the same period of last year, raising the prospect of increased electricity prices in the future, daily Habertürk reported May 31.

Woman dies after being hit by train in Sepolia

Authorities say a pedestrian has died after being struck by a Proastiakos suburban railway train at a level crossing in the area of Sepolia, west of Athens city center, on Wednesday.

The woman was taken to the capital's Evangelismos hospital, where she was pronounced dead. She has not been identified.

135 more refugee arrive in Greece in 48 hours

The flow of refugees and illegal migrants into Greece is continuing, as 135 more arrived in the northern Aegean Greek islands over the past 2 days. Lesvos saw 54 refugees land on its shores, while 41 and 40 reached Samos and Chios, respectively.

Macedonian PM-designate presents his program

Zoran Zaev said on Tuesday that his government would be devoted to economic development, strengthening institutions and Euro-Atlantic integrations.

"Our goal is to start negotiations with the EU in the shortest possible time, as well as membership in NATO," the PM-designate said explaining the government's program to MPs in parliament, asking for their support, Beta reported.

135 migrants arrive on eastern Aegean islands in past 48 hours

A total of 135 migrants and refugees have arrived on Greece's eastern Aegean islands in the past 48 hours, authorities said.

Fifty-four arrivals were recorded on Lesvos, 41 on Samos and 40 on Chios, authorities said.

A total of 9,171 asylum-seekers are currently stranded on the islands, according to official data Wednesday.
