A convincing second half was enough for Greece to start the 2017 Eurobasket with a 90-61 win over Iceland in Helsinki on Thursday.

Unidentified assailants shoot, injure stray dog in Turkey's Antalya

A stray dog was injured after one or more unidentified suspects intentionally opened fire on it in the Mediterranean province of Antalya on Aug. 29.

The injured dog, named "Dabel," was found in Antalya's Dağbeli area.

Greece defeat Iceland in Eurobasket opener (90-61)

Greece have opened their Group A matches for the 2017 Eurobasket championships in Helsinki, Finland with a comfortable 90-61 victory over Iceland. In the match played earlier in the first group Slovenia beat Poland 90-81. Greece are scheduled to face France on Saturday in their toughest match of group stage.

Football club chief must pay EUR 3k over illegal arms charge

Milos Vazura - the general director of Serbia's reigning football champions Partizan FC - has been found guilty of illegal carrying of weapons - i.e., a pistol.

Consequently, a Belgrade court has ordered Vazura to pay RSD 400,000 (some EUR 3,350 as of Aug. 31) in fines, that will go toward humanitarian purposes.
