Avalanche kills snowboarder in northern Greece

Greek authorities say an avalanche has killed a snowboarder who was using a closed-off piste at a northern ski resort.

Police say the 32-year-old Greek man was snowboarding with a group of friends at the Vasilitsa ski resort, near the town of Grevena, when the avalanche struck Friday.

The other members of the group were safe.

Slovenia Preparing to Sue Croatia

Slovenian Foreign Minister Karl Erjavec said that Ljubljana was preparing to file a lawsuit in the EU court against Zagreb due to Croatia's non-compliance with the decision of the Permanent Court of Arbitration as for the borders between the two nations.

FYROM PM, Greek mayor get together for dinner

Prime Minister Zoran Zaev of Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) is spending the New Year's holiday in the northern Greek city of Thessaloniki as the guest of the city's mayor.

Zaev and Mayor Yiannis Boutaris dined Saturday night in one of the city's top restaurants, serenaded by a Macedonian band playing Balkan folk songs.

Government, opposition clash over bid to invalidate asylum decision

The Greek government has fired back at the opposition after conservative New Democracy criticized its decision to file a request for the cancellation of the asylum granted to one of eight Turkish soldiers accused of involvement in last year's coup attempt.
