French Skier who Disappeared in Italy in 1954 is Finally Identified

A French skier who disappeared in Italy more than 60 years ago has been identified after his story was shared on social media, Italian police say.

Human remains, ski equipment and glasses had been found in 2005, high in a valley in Italy's Aosta region.

But investigators were unable to identify the victim, and, last month, shared their findings on Facebook.

The unnamed man in his 40s suffered head injuries shortly after landing on Spitsbergen island.

A video has emerged showing dozens of people swimming out to sea to escape the wildfires that ravaged the seaside resort town of Mati, east of Athens, a week ago.

The video was uploaded on Facebook.

Late Sunday, fire officials raised the death toll to 91 and reported that 25 people were missing.

The fire broke out very early in the morning, and the flames destroyed about 2,000 square feet of roofing of the buildings in the complex. Eight firefighter teams and more than 30 firefighters were suppressing the fiery element.

The Mountain Rescue Service in Bansko confirmed to the Bulgarian National Radio that the man had died on the spot. A report of an incident in the mountain over Gotse Delchev was received at the rescue service on duty in Bansko about 14 hours.

Fire officials in Greece have raised the death toll from a wildfire that raged through a coastal area east of Athens to 91 and reported that 25 people are missing six days after blaze.
