China Extradites Duty Crime Suspect from Bulgaria

Yao Jinqi, a duty crime suspect and former deputy head of Xinchang County in east China's Zhejiang Province, was extradited Friday to China from Bulgaria, reports Ecns. 

Yao, who fled abroad in December 2005, became the first former civil servant China extradited from an EU member state.

Ferry services cancelled as storm Penelope brings high winds

Ferryboats remained docked in ports around Greece on Friday, cutting off connections between the islands and the mainland, as a storm dubbed Penelope swept across the country, bringing downpours and gale-force winds.

There were no ferry services from the ports of Piraeus, Rafina or Lavrio.

Eight refugees rescued from fire in Lavrio reception centre

Eight people, including a child, were rescued by firefighters shortly after midnight on Thursday, after a blaze broke out inside the refugee reception centre in Lavrio, southeastern Attica.

All eight refugees were transferred to the nearby health centre for precautionary reasons and are in good health, state-run news agency ANA-MPA reported.

Trump cancels formal meeting with Erdoğan at G-20 summit

U.S. President Donald Trump will not hold formal meetings with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and South Korea's Moon Jae-in, but will instead speak informally with those leaders at the conference, White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders said.
